Mitsubishi engine clicking noise

My Mitsubishi montero sport is
making a clicking noise in the engine.
The best way to describe it is it
sounds like a Diesel engine running.

You may need to check your oil level...dipstick!

If the dip stick/ oil level is ok, what else could be wrong?
