My hood latch broke on my 1997 mercury sable and I can not open the hood. How can I get it to open

you will need to get under the front of the car with a good flash light and locate the cable to the hood and reach your hand under the hood and hit or move the release bracket to get it opened...

Where did it break or what part? If the plastic handle under the dash, just unbolt the assembly from the dash take it apart and pull the cable end with a pair of pliers to release the hood, then start searching for a replacement part
