Where are the positive and negative cables connected to on the 1998 mercury villager I need to change them

The positive end connects the positive side of the battery to the big stud on the starter motor. Sometimes there is a smaller wire connected to a fuse box. The negative wire connects the negative side of the battery to the engine block and the body of the car.
