Rebuilding transmission for '90 GMC K2500 Sierra 5.7/350 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My transmission went out and I'm on a pretty strict budget. I'd like to rebuilt
my own transmission but can't really find any reliable information online (so
far). My truck has been reliable and maintained regularly up until the
transmission went out. It does go into gear (R, N, D, etc) but will not go past
2nd gear. I'm pretty handy and very cautious (won't go ripping stuff out and
not remembering where it came from, etc). Are there any manuals or how-
to's that I could remotely follow to rebuild my transmission? Also would a
"rebuild kit" from say Autozone/O'Reiley/wherever be sufficient or would I
need the torque converter as well?

If your rebuilding it, go with all new parts , like the torque convertor.

Unless you are really good at mechanical work and are totally meticulous and methodical and have a very clean place to work you should not even try this.
