My mercury sable is running rough when I start it but after a ilitle bit it is fine

hat usually indicates a blown head gasket, look for excess white smoke from the tailpipe at first then it also goes away about the same time as the rough running goes away. Check for coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. You can also get a DIY kit at your local parts store or have your favorite shop run the tests.
