How is the FIT on steep hills, and snow? (2018)

Question type: General

We want to get a 2018 FIT. We live in the Catskills, so lots of driving on steep
hills, snow, and steep, snowy hills! I've read reviews of much older models, but
would like to know how the 2018  holds up.

If it is not AWD it would be terrible on snowy hills. As far as I know there are no AWD Fits.

We've been OK with our 2002 Hyundai Accent Front WD with snow tires, but someone told me that the FIT is lighter and shorter?

We bought the manual transmission FIT last fall so we've had one winter with it. We put snow tires on it and it has performed well on hills. The one thing I wasn't used to is the anti-lock brakes, and a few times on ice I skidded. I always drive so slowly in bad conditions, though, so it wasn't an issue. I have 2007 Fit Sport; no AWD; doesn't tackle snowy or icy/hilly surfaces well in the winter. I installed 4 aggressive snow tires which helped. Also depending on weather; putting extra weight in the hatchback even better.. It's a light vehicle which you wouldn't notice as much during other times of the year but much more noticeable during the winter.
