Asked by Sep 26, 2017 at 10:01 AM about the 2003 Mazda Tribute

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery died, car is locked and manual key is
not working. How can I gain entry to jump it?

1 Answer

Get under the car with a small battery charger (that plugs into the house electricity). Connect POSITIVE (+) RED clip to the (heavy) red battery cable on the starter solenoid. Connect NEGATIVE (-) BLACK clip to the engine block, bracket, etc. Let it charge a few hours. Then you can get in and probably start the engine. Then find out why your battery was dead. RZ
