car won't start

Asked by clhndluke2020 Oct 07, 2019 at 03:00 PM about the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was on my way to work this morning and I
know the battery I have is garbage so my
mom gave me a weak jump from her van.
So I drove the car prolly a football length
down the road and I started hearing a bunch
of clicking noises. So I try to get another
jump from someone and I eventually start
hearing the car backfiring. I don't know
anything about mexhanics , but I think I
might need a fuel pump or an altinator. Is
there anyway I can check any of the engine
components myself before I have to pay
someone to come fix my car?

Get a good strong battery and try starting the car. If it starts and runs good the replace your battery. If it still won't start it's possibly the fuel pump or the crankshaft position sensor. Another probable is the alternator, not keeping the battery charged. Do you have any check engine codes? Lots of "if's" here but it is a man made item. I had a 1996 that had every issue possible, one after another. But u still loved the car. Good luck
