changed pcm o 1998 lincoln towm car -- won,t start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

before   showed no power to 1 , 2 , 3 , & 7 cyl.   changed all coils  %  all plugs online replacement pcm pre-flashed from  flagship one     was running on other 4 cyl  prior to work    turns over strong now but won,t start ???

I do hope that the battery was disconnected before you put in the replacement ECM. Does the check engine light come on for a few seconds then go off if the key is turned to just the on position?

battery unhooked both post ck engine light comes on and stays with ign in on position

Then you have a hard failure somewhere, you need a code checker with "live data" capabilities so you can see if the ECM is even sending or receiving signals.

do key fobs have to be reprogramed with pcm change ???

I believe that on that year the module is separate and located in the trunk under the rear package shelf. As long as the security light turns off you should be fine.

Bad power supply or bad ground pathways, could even be the ECM itself. Live Data will be able to see that.
