2000 town car won't start episodically but this time for 1 month. Reading sugests might be starter/solenoid but don't know where it is, access from under hood or under car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Has always started before after 1-3 hours, like no problem. Would like to "hit the starter with  wrench" but can't find it?! No sound at all when ignition is turned.

...get a NEW battery...clean the black cable at the spot where it attaches to the frame/ground with a coarse wirebrush and re-assemble...with the restored ground your car will behave itself....also to the engine block (near the alternator as well)~

the starter is on the bell housing in front of the transmission....you'd not be able to strike it with a hammer unless you were on a crawler or piece of cardboard under that spot~

battery is not the problem, clean and replace the solenoid of the starter

how do you know the battery is okay...did you see the knock-off labels indicating the month and year of it's first charge...these tin/antimony batteries (no lead) will not last but five years~
