A/C Issues - Blowing hot Air

I have never had a problem with my A/C. Poured a cup of water on my corroded battery terminal after putting Baking soda on it.. Next day, A/C not working.. blows hot air and won't cool.. Had a friend put in a can of freon said the gauge went up, then back down as if there's a leak.  Does this sound right? just need a 2nd opinion since he's not a mechanic.. SIngle mom in need of help! Thanks in advance..

Does your compressor come on? Check the electrical connection at the compressor. Sounds like it got wet or was corroded too. HTH. -Jim
