Problem with 2000 GMC Jimmy

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy that wants to start
with starting fluid, but if it does start it'll stay
on for maybe 2-3 seconds then turn off. I was
driving one day when it turned off and the
battery icon turned on. Any ideas what it
could be?

Lack of fuel pressure, which can be anything from fuel pump, fuel filters to spider injector. As far as battery light turning on, if an engine stalls a battery light will typically come on. You can test the battery, alternator, and voltage regulator at any auto parts store for free.
