I have a 1988 460 gas engine in a motor home, getting fuel to and from motor, replaced gas filters, ICM, checked coil by putting it in my other ford truck, checked timing, problem is it lost power going up hills and then started backfiring thru throttle body? and then just stopped going up a large hill, now when it sits for hours I try to start it and it fires but then just keeps on cranking wont start. Any suggestions?

You need to find out what your fuel pressure is, sound like a bad or dirty pump.

Same thing happened to me on my 89. plugged CAT. Loosen the bolts between engine and cat, and put a screwdriver between them and pry them apart a tad then try to start. I f it runs you have a plugged cat converter.
