What would cause the transmission not to shift past 3rd or 4th gear?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After the car gets warm it will not shift past 3rd or 4th gear. A while back it was doing the same thing and I went and got a tune up. The garage also did a diagnostic and found the number 2 cylinder ignition coil bad so they replaced it. The car ran fine up until now. So my next question is what could a cylinder ign. coil have to do with the way the car shifts if any? Any insight would be appreciated.

Has nothing to do with the ignition coils. Have the car looked at, it's transmission related.
