You can manually shift the transmission from underneath. Do not do this while the motor is running because you could run yourself over. With the van off and the parking brake set so the van won't roll go underneath the driver side. On that side of the transmission will be a lever with a cable attached to the end. Pull the cable off and you can move the lever into gear. This is the lever that moves when you select a gear. Count the clicks like you would when you move the gear selector. You can leave it in drive just make sure you don't go sonewhere you need to back up and always set your parking brake
