How much should a pair of shocks cost for a 2002 Lexus es300?

Asked by May 30, 2012 at 12:52 AM about the 2002 Lexus ES 300

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Getting them replaced and I want to see if the pricing is legit. Charging me $1300 for the shocks themselves.
Cannot get any used as it is rare that anyone has to replace good quality shocks. These are electric btw

You should replace your struts or shocks anywhere from 60K miles onward due to a loss of dampening. Sometimes they just leak before then. You should never use used struts or shocks on a vehicle. Not worth it. Your vehicle uses struts in all 4 corners not shocks. The pair from any auto house are in the $200 range. I assume your going to a dealer. If you want original factory struts, they are running close to $800 for the pair online, plus add your labor. So $1300 sounds like the going rate for the dealer. I would assume you can do it for more than half that price at an independent garage.

OK, I just saw the comment on the electronic suspension, the $800 for the pair is for the electronic ones. The $200 is for without. So your in the ballpark.
