How many different different Hyundai key codes

Last week we parked our rented Santa Fe in a parking lot. On returning I
pressed the key. The car opened and I put my things in the back seat. Put the
key in the ignition but it would not turn. Wiggled the streering wheel: nothing.
Tried everything and then decided that it might be a computer problem, so
closed everything, got out and relocked the car. Pressed the key again and
"my car" behind me flashed and opened. The car I had been in was not mine!
But my key opened it. I could have had all the real owners belongings (I
didn't).
It was an identical silver Santa Fe. What are the chances?

That happens more than you know, the car manufactures try to ship like codes as far away as possible from each other. The other thing is with the introduction of electronics and RF signals you might start to see more and more of this happening, the systems are just not that secure.
