2015 Wrangler Vapor Lock?
I have a used 2015 (purchased in April 2017)....it has been in service 4 times
with an intermittent starting issue. NO ONE has been able to figure it out. It
runs fine, but short bursts of starting and stopping is when it has a problem.
It cranks but doesn't turn over. If it has time to cool, then it will start fine.
Under MFG warranty b/c it is under 36,000 miles. finally have it somewhere
that diagnoised Vapor Lock? Does that sound right? From what I am
reading, that happens on older cars. It has been in service longer than I
have been driving it! Help!
What you need to determine is what's missing, fuel or spark, when it refuses to start. Then go from there. Vapor lock is virtually unheard of today. I doubt it's that. My first guess would be an ignition (no spark) problem. Try spraying some starting fluid down the throttle body when it refuses to start. It should run a few seconds on the starting fluid. If so you have spark so it's a fuel problem. Such as a dying fuel pump or fuel injectors not spraying. If it won't run on the starting fluid it's an ignition system (no spark) problem. HTH. -Jim
