Wiring a 2nd battery
I'm installing a second battery on my 2500
hd silverado, I was told I need to remove my
alternator fuse before connecting it to
prevent a shortage, true or false? If true
where is it located?
On cars with alternators, the diodes can be blown by reversing current through them- this often happens when using jumper cables and installing them incorrectly- on 21st Century cars, however, with their myriad electronic systems, more damage is possible by playing around with power sources- and won't this void your warranty?! Good luck- I hope you know what you are doin'
I'm not understanding your answer.. I have a 2015 chevy silverado. It's obviously a newer vehicle.. It's also a 2500 HD. Why would it void my warranty? I'm installing everything according to specs so it won't void it. I know what I'm doing, thank you.... I'm just curious about this rumor I've heard about removing an alternator fuse and there is no fuse listed for alternator.
