Does it seem to shift in 4LO? If so then the transfer case is on it last legs and won't last muck longer.

no won't shift out of 4 low. put new switch in dash, lights work only stays in 4low.

Try tapping on the transfer case shift motor while someone is pushing the 2WD mode, if that don't work then you will have to take the shift motor assembly off and manually shift it into 2WD, this will have to be done with the vehicle in neutral, so make sure it is blocked so you don't wind up as a statistic. Then just unplug the motor assembly so it won't be hanging down cause you won't be able to put it back on. When you do decide to replace the motor assembly follow the instructions precisely or you could ruin the new motor assembly. HTH
