I had to repair a front door hindge on a 1994 jeep. How do you line up the part od the hindge that mounts to the body of the jeep

you had to weld a new one on? or somethin'- loosen the bolts and put a floor jack under the edge of the door- carefully raise the jack until you think you have "adjusted" the door enough- this is black magic, so do not reveal this secret to anyone else- they will try to do it without putting a piece of wood between the jack and the door and bend the heck outta their door-
