CD player stopped working.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi
I got my ford focus zetec 2014 plate may last year and a
month ago the CD player just stopped working I put a CD in
and it says reading CD for about a minute then ejects the
CD again. Is there anyway I can fix it myself without
sending it in to ford to repair it?

Many thanks x

Sometimes the optics get dirty and can't read the CD. Get one of the CD cleaners and run it couple of times, it will most likely spit it back out a number of times until the optics are cleaned up. Unless the laser is burned out, then no amount of cleaning will make it work and it will either have to be sent out for repair, replaced with another unit or replaced with an aftermarket player assembly. Aftermarket might be the cheapest way to go if you can find one with all the options you want. Check with Car Toys or Best Buy for pricing.
