car wont start

Asked by May 19, 2016 at 10:35 AM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car had radiator problems. Fixed it but now the car won't start it slightly overheated
then staple and refused to restart. I was told it was an internal safety issue because of
the radiator problem the car overrides itself and won't start. They want 1000.00$ to fix it
but that sounds so extreme and I'm wondering if that's true at all

get a second diagnosis at another shop. When you overheated, did you loose coolant and it sprayed all over the engine compartment? If so, some or one of the electrical connectors is wet and your Jeep won't start.

No nothing leaked so I guess I'm having it towed out of there. Does this safety issue really happen or is it just BS...

When my Jeep overheated nothing like that happened, just fixed the problem, refilled it with coolant, bleed the air out and was good to go. I suspect that the overheat may have cause a sensor or two to malfunction so the computer doesn't know what is happening, another shop should be able to run a scan to locate the problem.
