2004 jeep grand cherokee, moved from 4wd to 4wd low and back again while stopped. now i'm getting a grinding noise when I decelerate and turn left or right or apply brakes. any ideas?

Sounds like a shift solenoid, try not driving the car and take it to a good transmission shop as soon as you can to avoid more damage
