Have I been sold a defective Xf?

Asked by DawnFFS Nov 09, 2016 at 09:41 AM about the 2013 Jaguar XF

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought my dream car 4 weeks ago. I've had it back with the dealers twice so
far! When I'm at 15-20K/hr and take my foot of the accelerator, the car pulls
back (without touching the brake). Feels like driving with the handbrake on.
Dealer says that's how an Xf drives. Is it?

It sounds like the car decelerates sharply when you take your foot off the gas rather than coasting. Does it have low power when driving or is it just the coasting issue?

Thank you all for answering. When it's in neutral there doesn't seem to be an issue. Power is pretty disappointing on take-off tbh. Could this be related?

It is possible that the computer cuts off the gas really fast when you take your foot off the gas, I do not know if that is normal or not. I also wonder if the transmission is in first gear when you are taking off. I don't know what disappointing means to you but it should be pretty darn quick off the line. Perhaps you should look for a good independent Jag performance shop and have them take a look at it.

It's with the dealer's mechanic at the moment and is booked into a specialist Jag centre on Tuesday. I'll let you know what their diagnosis is. Thanks for the help.
