I opened the gas cap of my 2013 VW Passat and found a small cover preventing me from filling up

I removed the gas tank cap and there is something still covering it. How do I fill up with
gas?

Some new cars don't have an actual gas cap. To fill up, just put the nozzle in the hole. It will open up the flap and you can fill up. HTH. -Jim

yep preaty much all new vehicles have this flap its a preventative from keeping your gas backing up out the cap hole instead if it over fills or backs up it goes out a drain/ air hole.
