How to Disable my Alarm system

Asked by Oct 12, 2019 at 12:10 AM about the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Question type: General

I bought my 2013 chevy equinox the other day , it
did not come with a push key remote . Everytime I
unlock the door to get in the car the alarm goes off
, it wont shut off until I start the car , is there a way
to disable the alarm so I dont have to hear this
everytime I get into my vehicle?

My guess is that the fob battery went out and was never reprogramed so the car recognizes it. But when you insert the key and the engine starts, that's enough confirmation that the key is proper that the security shuts off. Check the battery in the fob, then have the car reprogramed to the fob and you should be OK.

The dealership never gave me a fob so the alarm goes off everytime I open my door. I have to start the car to turn off . I dont want to have to purchase one , I was wondering was there a way around to disable the alarm so it dont go off everytime

If there was a way to disable a car alarm, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the alarm? You can't do what you're thinking about. Get a proper fob and your life will be easier.
