I have a 96 ford ranger that is shimmying and smoking. I already replaced the egr valve and selinoid. also replaced the pcv valve. nothing worked. any ideas? could this be the fuel regulator. it does seem to be using too much fuel.

Thanks Tom. I figured it out. It was the fuel pressure regulator.
