cracked oil pan during maintenance service
during service of my 2012 c250 -- cracked oil pan -- took car home and after a day started
leaking oil -- service rep said it was gasket -- now 4 days later -- still don't have vehicle
repaired -- been told (at various times) -- leaking coolant -- small tranmission leak --
gasket sealant not curing -- anybody have advice / comments on what is really going on
There's a few things that come to mind. 1) they cracked the oil pan and because that's not a warranty item because they did it they are stalling for time trying to find a way to blame you or call it something else so Mercedes will pay it. Be polite and persistent. 2) They no idea what the problem is. I hope you got a loaner car.
yes, they admitted that tech cracked the oil pan during oil change. yes, they have provided a loaner ... i just don't understand why benz dealership service dept. can't figure out how to fix the problem. I really am disappointed with this considering I bought the Mercedes brand. first benz was 2009 c-300 -- i went down to c-250 to try and save gas
There's more than just removing the cracked oil pan and putting in the new on. First, they have to locate one. An oil pan is not a common item that go's bad on such a new car. Second, I believe that they have to remove the engine. The front suspension items like the steering and such are in the way. There are lots things that you and I don't know that have to be done to get the oil pan off. One thing in there favor that you wouldn't get at a GM dealership is that they stepped up to the plate and admitted to the error.

I have always found Mercedes-Benz dealer's to be stand up and honest. Lord above should you have had this problem with a G.M. dealer.
