Whars wrong with my car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have recent brought a ford probe and it was
running fine but then i left the light on in it and the
battery went flat so i brought a new battery and
put it in and ever since the car has been sctting
like the battery is flat despite the battery being
new and fully charged and when i chsrge the
battery for 5 mins and take it off i can start the car  
but then after a few minutes of driveing it the
engine just turns off. Does anyone know whats
going on and how to fix it

You need to test the alternator , get it running and test the batt. terminals for 14+ volts
