My gas petal suddenly stopped working

Asked by VictoriaMoody Jul 17, 2015 at 01:38 AM about the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today I was traveling up hill when my
gas petal suddenly stopped pressing
as if I had ran out of gas ( my tank
being half full). My car then begin to
roll backwards down the hill until
stopping at the bottom. I
immediately turned my caution lights
on, and then turned my car off. Being
in an unsafe place in the intersection
I try to re-crank my car to put it into
neutral, when I did this my engine
begin to run perfectly and I'll begin to
be able to drive again. About two
hours later the same thing happened
in a fast food drive-through. My car
also has been experiencing a delay
in gear shifts, a delay in windows
rolling down, and also dashboard
lights not working.Please respond
quickly if you know what is going on,
thank you.

Is the pedal attached properly? Also, what type of car, year and make?

Have your charging system checked, especially your battery, a cell could be broken inside your battery and if it touches the next one it will cause a direct short or if it is not touching the bottom it will only have 10 volts, easiest thing to do is borrow a battery like yours and drive it and see if problem solved, then buy a new one if that is the problem. It happened to me and the car would die every time I made a left turn, had battery checked and it showed ok until they leaned it over.
