Why won't my 2008 Chevy Express 1500 Start after parking using radio for a while, I tried to start vehicle and it wouldn't start, could it be the ignition switch? Faulty starter?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

thought that battery had run down, from radio? tried to jump start it and nothing, no clicking sound and engine doesn't turn over. As if the turn of key is not causing engaging of  the starter, all the indicator lights will come on. The starter was installed at a local repair shop about 2 months ago. The first one they installed was faulty!

Haft to know if the battery is good, also clean the battery connections and try.

If the battery is low, and you're using the radio, it will run it down past where the starter will work. When you turn on the key, the instrument panel works, as does the radio when on aux.? Then forget the switch. Lose connection to the starter is a starting point. poor or corrosion on the battery cables, or lose connection. Bad starter, as Rowenfast said. If the first replacement is bad, have the second one checked out, and if it also is bad, go to a different supplier and manufacturer. If you're getting a rebuild, and are going to keep the vehicle, get a new starter. If you do not hear any click, there may not be power to the starter. It can be started by bypassing the key, putting the jumper cable directly to the starter. If you put a starter battery in conjunction to the car battery, you should be able to check to see if there is any power coming to the starter itself. m I have seen batteries so dead, jump starting will not work. It depends where the jump starter is connected.

It was diagnosed as the Main Engine Relay. I picked up the vehicle, my 2008 Chevrolet Express 1500 Cargo Van and didn't get 20 miles before it started doing the same thing, turn the key and nothing. Towed back to shop and he replaced the Main Engine Relay and it started right up, next morning after driving about 10 miles it does it again and after replacing myself it started up, this happened about 3 times after the 3rd time it no longer started after replacing the relay. What could be causing the Main engine relay to keep blowing. All starting and fuse blowing started happening after the vehicle was taken to body shop and front end, work was done, all new lights, grill, hood, radiator support, air conditioner and heater. frame support, battery support etc.... Possibly something shorted during work?

It sounds like you didn't stop in time and you got on a first name basis with an auto repair guy. There are sensors for the air bags, and other components that control the operation of your vehicle. See if any codes are popping up and have the body guy re-check all the sensors and pickups that may have been damaged or a wire lose or cut. If the main engine relay keeps popping, find out if there is any sensors connected to it that causes it to go off line.
