2007 Ford Taurus Engine Sounds Funny

Asked by Feb 09, 2017 at 02:46 PM about the 2007 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently got my 2007 ford Taurus. I went into
a ditch about a month ago and ever since then my
car sounds funny. It says to check the charging
system and both the check engine and check
battery lights are on. I don't know much about cars
but I know something is wrong with it, obviously. It
struggles to even start, making a loud whistling
noise and starts shaking quite badly. I was
wondering what the problem could possibly be
and approximately how much I should save to fix
it. Has anyone had a similar problem and what
happened with your car? Thank you!!

Funny is not a clue that helps but the CEL means there is a problem and if you get the codes read we can find out what the problem is. Take your car to a mechanic or a good auto parts store and have the codes read. Post them here and we will try to help.

The alternator or wiring is at least compromised. I'm just surprised your asking now after a month. So engine and or suspension problems. Like FOR recommends, get it into a shop. They can give you some estimates after looking it over. Doesn't sound like a safe car at this point.
