Transmission fluid

Asked by Aug 31, 2016 at 12:20 AM about the 2010 MINI Cooper

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello all, I was wondering how fast transmission
fluid heats up in your car. I saw a lot of stuff saying
if your tranny fluid gets this hot you only have a few
thousand more miles to drive with that fluid. I was
wondering what it takes to get the fluid to 240
degrees or even higher?

1 Answer

246,035

Usually once the car warms up. Normal operating temps should be between 195-210^F . 240 F is too hot. Are you having issues with yours? Don't put off having a trans shop inspect it, you don't want to be stranded. The Mini's use a CVT if you have an automatic.
