Where is the one touch down window relay in a 1997 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The driver side power window was put down by the auto function and will not roll back up.  I suspect that the one touch down relay has failed but the diagram in the ownwes manual is unclear as to which relay this is.  What is its location?

If the motor won't come back up, it's not due to the failure of that relay. More than likely the switch is bad, or the motor itself has failed. Try hitting the switch with your ear pressed against the door panel. If the regulator is bad, you will hear the motor whirr, but the window won't move. Remove the switch from the door panel and use a continuity tester to check for current flow through the switch. If other windows work the problem is not a fuse or relay.

Mine just did the same thing. I can hear a clicking when I hold down the driver-side front window switch. I think it must have something to do with the relay or fuse...The diagram shows a separate slot for the one-touch window down, but I can't make out the numbers on the actual fuse box to even check. What is the problem and why is it so common?
