2010 ford escape engine light on 49551 miles, went to autozone they plugged in and said it was a small evap system leak, could it be the cannister and sensor?

i read a bunch of posts about this problem but my escape has never stalled out or sputtered. i visually inspected lines as best i could but really cant afford a smoke test.

Most common is the gas cap, then it is the flow sensor in the evap line, so replace your gas cap first, then get the codes cleared and then see if it returns.

it is a capless tank

AAHH OK check with your Ford dealer, this may still be under warranty for emission controls, some of those had a 5 year 50K mileage warranty.
