Hyundai Sonata check engine light won’t go away

Asked by Guru24323 Feb 20, 2020 at 06:48 AM about the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, 57,288 miles.
The check engine light started coming on a bit
over a month ago, so I took it and the guys
pulled up a code for some type of “pin hike
leak” or gas cap type issue & they shut off the
light. It came back on 20-25 days later. So
they replaced the gas cap & shut it off. A
week later it’s back on. Take it back in, and
they did a smoke test. Found the alleged
small leak, replaced it. Shut it off. I can’t get
the terms correct for what the code ever came
up as, or what the second thing they replaced
was. So bare with me. I remember he said the
words “EVAP” & “leak”. Anyways, it just came
back on again. I’m entirely sick of it. He said
the o2’s are fine, he said the purge valve is
fine, etc etc. I’m up to my wits end. Should I
get a second opinion? I’m calling them again
today to let them know it’s back on. Anyone
ever have this happen? There was another
forum on here like this, but I just want to see if
anyone else has any ideas. I’m about to get
an OBD2 myself and read off the freaking
code and figure it out myself.
