Bmw 318i red oil light coming on

Asked by Mar 28, 2015 at 12:48 AM about the 2009 BMW 3 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 318i , 2009 , that had
dropped all oil last year and then had
to relplace oil sensor aswell , we
thought problem was fixed , as has
been ok for a couple of months. This
model does not have a dip stick , but
now im doing long journeys every
day , my red oil light is coming on ,
after anout 30 mins driving, always
seems to be when just come off
moterway , and slowing down or
coming to a stop at lights just after
driving for a while at speed . But
when  i check on settings its says
check ok . I am up worrying now as
this cost me over £2000 to get fixed
last year , and dont fancy the same
again . Thanks for any advice.

A orange light means low oil, red oil light means fix ASAP. Blinking means the oil pressure sensor is faulty, solid red light means low oil pressure. Are you using the recommend oil?
