would you be able to answer why just out of the blue yesterday when starting my 1997 Expedition it rev's up to three grand and dies ?

idol control sensor that's controls the idle or map sensor bad or it's sucking air from Gavin leak a hose. Or breather from intake to air box

Sounds like idle control sensor.
