NO not at all. If they continue to make the camaros after2010 then maybe but for now, No.

there is alot better chance of it seeing the same (or similar) 4cyl turbo thats in the solstice gxp/ cobalt ss and others, in the camaro over a bigger Z28 what im hoping to see is if that 4 banger 260hp engine does go in it, that each current model gets a bump in power respectively, so that 400hp SS could be a nice 450+

25

for now there is gunna be a rs and ss model. the has more than 300 hp. the ss has over 400/ if they ter make a z28 it would be pretty sweet but the ss version is the best. but my biggest question is pontiac gunna bring back the firebird?

595

the Rs is solely an appearance package offered on the SS' and LT's... the models go as follows starting lowest price to highest LS $22995 300hp V6 1LT $24630 300hp V6 2LT $27330 300hp V6 1SS $30992 400hp auto, 422hp manual V8 2SS $34180 400hp auto, 422hp manual V8 the 2SS is basically fully loaded and not many options left to toss on it. and like i said the RS package is available on the LT (1 &2) and SS (1&2) and includes the following: - HID lamps - Spoiler on LT Models - 20 inch 5 spoke wheel - Midnight silver paint finish - Optional polished finish - RS unique tail lamps (darkened lenses) - Body colored roof ditch molding - Special RS Badging

from what i heard on camaroz28.com was they were in i think 2011 going to release a Z28 with the LS7 with the 505rwhp.

595

i doubt that will happen now though, because they are disbanding GM High Performace who would have been the one in charge of the Z28, not to mention they dont have the money to sell limited production niche cars... right now they basically have to keep the government happy and sell eco cars

705

idk i think they will, i read on that forum that chevorlet had received 20,000 orders for the camaro in less then a year. so it might happen.

Last I heard the parts supplier who was going to produce some of the body components for the z28 went under and the project is on hold until a new parts source can be economically located.

595

well if the current plan goes through, GM will be trading debt for equity, which would then see the US Gov taking a 50% stake and the dreaded union 39%... could be a very bleak and 'toyota' like future for GM (toyota= boring, governement owning company= boring cars... just to clear any misinterpretations up :) )

595

they didnt so much go under as they did file chapter 11 bankruptcy... GM then sued because of parts ceasing delivery.. from what i know GM pulled the tooling out of that supplier and transferred it to another. is wasnt just parts for the Z/28 (which still is not confirmed) it was for each model of the Camaro i could easily see it being 2012 or later before the Z/28 starts rolling down the assembly line in Oshawa... which sucks, because it would absolutely destroy the GT500...

From what I've heard and read there isn't a Z28 model yet. But there will be an SS model.

16,745

I thought Gene Stefanyshyn said that the z28 had a different roof that was going to be supplied by a German manufacturer that went under (they never said a company name but are they referring to Karmann?)

595

you're about 2-3 years late with that news, the SS is already in production... in fact i saw a transport full of Camaro's, and noticed at least 3 SS' on it on the 401 while i was driving around this weekend and that picture you posted looks like one of the many renderings people made 4 years ago when they imagined what the camaro would look like, production car looks nothing like it.. that thing has euro-trash written all over it

15

They already have it designed and made, but with the way GM is they aren't going to make it...yet

35

that is a negative. They are, unfortunately, only making an ss version. I talked to a floor manager at an auto show about it, and the way he explained it is, that there will be a base model, aka a v6. there will also be an ss and a beefy ss.

595

they cant publicly say they have a Z28 made and waiting... the government is watching there every move and judging them in every way possible... the balls GM needs to produce the Z28 are in a giant government vise

205

Not 2010 Chase 2011 the Z/28 6.2 liter supercharged...fast than the Super Slow...;)

35

Chevy says there's a possibility, but u never know in this economy when all people want are frickin efficient prius shitmobiles

705

completely agreed. who gives a fuck about gas effiency i can see it if ur driving 40 miles to work everyday but the LS1, LS3, LS6 all get rougly 30-32mpg anymore. which is on par with most horrid scrivics and camry's now adays. idk i think if the government would start enforcing harder import taxxes on cars we wouldn't have ever had this problem plus outlawwed outsourcing too.

595

we'll if it makes you guys feel better, the Prius sales are down 61.5% compared to last april, and the Smart ForTwo down 50%... and both Ford and Chevy (not GM, just Chevy alone) outsold Toyota in April

16,745

Yeah but the Prius and Smart fortwo have always been more hype than substance, maybe people are just now starting to realize that minor fact... (Compare eithers MPG to a Jetta tdi's... which has more power and space)... Hell compare the fortwo to any compact

225

no a new z/28 will have to be done by independent shops doing engine swaps on ss's and maybe sticking some z/28 badges on it they won't make the camaro's power high enough to compete with the corvette camaro is ment to be a submodel and will stay that way

705

if u mean a Z06 then you're right but the base model corvette has never been anything different then a Camaro in a corvette body. 93-96 Corvette's Z06 and base had the LT1 just pushing a little more horse out of them. Then 97 rolled around and the Z06 had the LT4 which some Z/28's and Firehawks had. Then 98-05 the Base had the LS1 same as used in the Camaro's the Z06's had the LS6, 05-current LS2 in base models and LS7 in Z06. I believe their going to be calling the new Z/28's engine a LS4 anyone correct me if i'm wrong cus i know the SS is getting an LS3. the LS4 will have roughly 500 but the thing that makes the vette different then the camaro is the suspension the body (2 door 2 seat hatch) the carbon fiber body, the independent rearend coupled with the Trans-rear axle. not alot of the engine is different on the two.

225

that may be true for back then but is not the case now besides the z/28 concept I saw at the barrett jackson this year had an ls9 so I believe it is a concept and will stay that way just like the srt-10 challenger

15

According to several sources GM planned a Z28 model but is currently on hold do to their current struggles. If conditions get better we could see it for the 2011 model year. It will not have the LS9, rather the 550 hp LSA engine from the current CTS-V. Google it and you should see some pics.

225

the government has mandated that a companies list of cars mpg averages out to about 32 so they will have to kill the new z/28 or make a prius knock off

205

THE 2011 Z/28 WILL HAVE THE LS3 6.2 SUPERCHARGED BETTER FOR GAS! I WORK FOR GM AND I KNOW AND NO.... I AM NOT FIRED YET!

705

an LS9 in a Z28 ha right, they wouldn't ever do that or else the 93-95's would've had a LT5. i never even heard of the srt10 chall either

25

When I was working on the new Camaro design team ( Supplier), we did sketches & prototypes of Z/28 trim last year. So there are possibilities for the z/28 model. But not sure if GM is willing to put out the Z/28 model for '09 model year. Perhaps in few years?
