How can the computer not be able to diagnose car problem?

Asked by Guru9NTTT Jul 06, 2017 at 12:48 PM about the 2009 Honda Accord

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few years ago the starter of 2009 accord was replaced. As
I pulled out of repair shop, check engine light came on.  For
personal reasons, I don't trust them and went to the station
down the street who said something way down at the
bottom (of the engine???) was disconnected and would be
involved to reconnect but they did it.

After that, strange things have been happening.  The car will
only drive at 20mph or so, check engine light blinking.  Car
has no power to go up hills. At other times, VAS and solid
check engine light come on and car drives normally.

Car can go for months with blinking check engine light on
and car will not go above 20 mph & can not be used.  Then
it will act normally with no lights on for a period of a couple
of hundred miles or so.

Computer spits out codes, parts are replaced but car still
blinking.  How can the computer not know???  One time it
will say parts need to be replaced, the next time it will say
theses parts don't need to be replaced.

Is it possible for no one to diagnose a car?

Codes have to be interpreted as they can be caused by more than one thing. If you can post the codes and what has been done we can try to help.

Part of the problem is that the codes don't seem to be accurate. Was told code showed replacement part would be $2,000, they ordered part, because of price they said they would recheck codes before replacing. Got phone call with good news, code shows its not that after all. Nothing shows up as being wrong. Was told Car Had No Issues. And As Usual The Same Pattern Happens. Car Fine, No Check Engine Light on And Car Drives Normally For A Short Period Of Time. Then Blinking Check Engine Light Comes On, Car Will Drive too Slow To Drive IN traffic.. The WEirdest Thing Is That In the same Day It Can Blink And Not Be Usable At One Time That Day And Later in same day No Light And Drives Normally And Another Time vSA Light And Check Engine Light Together. This must be a clue that it can go back and forth like this in the same day How Can It Work Normally with No Check Engine Light At One Time During The Day And Later Blink And only Crawl A!ong? Its My Only Car, I Lost My financial support and can't get another car. Live where a car is a necessity. How can more than one mechanic not figure this out. Crank sensor was replaced and cam sensor. Didn't make any difference Thank you. I'm hoping someone out there likes a challenge and can help.

Hey bro just seen this and words can’t explain how what’s happening to your 09 Accord is happening to mine same exact scenario. Code p0339 for crankshaft popped up goes away and comes back also 2 misfires fixed all of it only code that still comes back is crankshaft code. Replaced the sensor and the wiring is fine. Keeps coming back. That’s the problem. Was wondering if you ever found a fix to your problem?

If you end up seeing this and have the answer I’d strongly appreciate if you can email me what fixed it if any possible way, thanks. Colonalex14@yahoo.com
