This amazing 1998 HONDA ACCORD .

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Well I have been told so many different things
about the knocking noise in the front, I think I know
my entire front end. Everything in the world has
been checked, w/barings, ball joints, control arms,
Today I was told that the front end was tight, he
was amazed , but had no idea where the noise was
coming from. The only thing I was told it could be
was the struts and mounts, but if he took it apart I
should replace them anyway. He said just because
it don't bounce like a ball, does not mean they are
not bad. So he told me it was around 500 bucks,
I saw thee entire strut assembly for about 50
bucks on Amazon. That would be about 100 plus
change for 2.
I cannot afford 400 in labor, is that the right price
for this, maybe 7 bolts to take off. Plus , he don't
promise the noise will stop.
I think I'm gonna just  fire away, an fall back.
Any suggestions,  opinions, advise.
Oh, he said  to get a front end alignment,  that was
waring the one tire tread, is that possible,  just one
I'm tired, I see what yall say,
Thanks so much for the help.

Can you explain the knocking noise you are having again ? Like when do you hear this knock all the time when driving, when you hit a bump, accelerating from a stop or when stopping etc.

How many miles and are they the original struts? $400 should be for the total job of replacing the struts and alignment. If over 100K on the struts, I would replace them with or without the noise. Do you plan on keeping the car?

I just got the car in Dec, I would think the struts are original, But this guy does not do alignments. The mile are like 2k +.

To firebird. The knocking is when it hits bumps or a rogh road, but he says he checked everything.

To check push down on one side of the driver side fender front if no noise lift up on that side then do the same to the passengers side my need someone else to help to push down on fender and pull up on fender on both sides to check for noise. I think it maybe the strut mounts not the struts themselves.
