Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had to have a tire changed because
the inside wall was bad and it had
blown. Is there a sensor in the back
right tire that would stop the car from
going into overdrive it feels like the car
is going into 1st 2nd and 3rd but not
Overdrive. At 55 mile an hour I'm only
putting out 2,000 rpms the car does
not get overheated but you can hear
that it is not changing gears

Start again.... First, the 4EAT in those years was geared at 24mph/k-rpm, so 2k would get you about 48mph...not 55. But the speedos were biased positive, so it would read just about 50mph. Maybe that's what you mean.... Regardless, it does sound like you're using its 4th gear...and indeed locked nicely into it. So what's this business about a blown tire have to do with anything?

I thought there was some kind of sensor in the back right tire that controlled the gear changes if the tire is bad not blown just bad because it started before the tire blew not going into the 4th gear

Could anyone have an idea how much is going to cost me to get it unlocked so it will go into 4th gear, on a fixed income. and thank you so much for all your replies SubaruGuruBoston
