Lens cover replacement

I am trying to replace the original lens cover housing on my front left . The clip
that I believe is holding it in place is stripped . It just keeps spinning. Can I
break that off to remove the cover ?

The headlights or fog lights don't have replaceable lenses, you replace the whole assembly.
