Where is lightening gonna strike next? That is a question with far too many variables to answer with any reliability. BUT! If the car ISN'T HURT NOW and the maintenance has been performed as recommended by Honda....AND, if the timings belts have been changed as recommended...and, the current user isn't beating the crap out of it or spraying huge shots of nitrous through it. It will continue to perform well until something happens to change that. You can realistically expect well over 200K or more if you operate the car responsibily. My 91 CRX had 161K on the original engine; ran like a champ and burned no oil at the time I did an engine swap. My 89 Wagon had 234K on it at the time I sold it...still ran great and was still on the original A/C charge!

my 1999 Honda Civic Lx with 5 speed had 532,428 miles on it when I made the mistake of selling it. It used a quart of oil every 5k miles, ac was cold and still got 38-42 mpg. I did all the maintenance, used Mobil 1 oil from new in the engine and transmission..love that car

122,000 miles. Without knowing EVERYTHING there is to know about how the car was treated (driven AND maintained), you can have no expectations. If it is running well, you can KEEP it running almost as well for as long as you are devoted to MAINTAINING it that way. Change the oil and filter MORE OFTEN than recommended is a good start. (Once you reach the "recommended" mileage interval, damage (however minute) is already being done.) Also check and change ALL OTHER FILTERS AND FLUIDS more often than recommended. Keep on top of transmission maintenance; it doesn't matter how smoothly the engine is running if its power isn't getting to the wheels. Change your belts BEFORE they break. Change your brake pads before they begin to cut into your rotors. Rotate tires, check alignment, check/clean/gap spark plugs occasionally; you might be surprised at how long spark plugs can last.

I bought my used in fair condition with 220,000 a few years ago. I gave it a good overhaul and have maintained the fluids. I use the car on long trips, often driving her for 48 hours, nonstop. She just reached 580,000 miles and I'm going to give her another extensive overhaul. If you want a nice car to drive forever, what's good gas mileage (30+) then get a '90s Honda Accord and treat it well. If you need more space, I would suggest a manual transmission Honda fit (the 60, 000-80,000 mi range is the best to buy them. I then their prices degraded enough to make them cheap.) My brother has a Honda fit with 350,000 miles on it. He's usually able to get 40+ mpg. I would not suggest this car if you're not willing to drive a manual. I hope this helps anyone. Buy a reliable model used car, maintain it well, and don't treat it like crap. It will save you a fortune and probably give you a lot of pride in your car and comfort knowing you can drive anywhere without worry. Good luck! And remember, parts break on anything. It might be expensive, but it'll save you if you replace it early on.
