2000 Honda accord ignition issue.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I just got home and I put my car in park and turned off
my car and removed the key from the ignition and the car
was still running. I wasnt quiet sure what to do so I called
my dad and he had my try a series of different things and
nothing was able to turn the car off. We came to a last
resort of pulling the fuel pump fuse from the fuse panel
inside. Then I put the fuse all the way back in and went to
go start the car again, and the starter sounds like its
cranking but nothing is firing the engine up. So I took my
key back out of the ignition with the door closed and all of
my dash lights are on, my windows still work, and my dome
light still works but aftermarket CD player is off. I currently
have my my battery disconnected and I've looked around
on Google and cannot find any answers so figured I'd post
a personal question for it.

it sounds like a ignition switch failure. It also will have a immobilizer system so keys may need to be purchased and/or reprogrammed.

your ignition switch electrical part is bad.

Thank you for all the help. We got it fixed. We just let it sit for a couple days with out doing anything with it, and now it works just fine. Not sure what happened, but what ever it was, wasnt a permanent issue lol.
