2009 VW Passat Won’t Start

Asked by Nov 29, 2017 at 08:18 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen Passat

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

60k miles, premium fuel.
Engine light came on so parked it for a week at home over
thanksgiving. We topped up the oil as it was pretty low. It
did start ok, but I didn’t run it long. Now Push key started
tries to start it but it won’t turn over. Primes but no
ignition.
Any ideas what’s most likely?
Thanks

Whatever the stored code is should be able to point you in the right direction but the 3 things that first come to mind are coil pack/ ignition control module, crankshaft position sensor and fuel filter

right , start with the code , get the definition ,, sounds like you took a trip low on oil , engines don't like that and it's letting you know , may be some kind of limp mode . plus being parked for a week power is still "stored " and eventually the batt can go dead .Batts don't like being low
