2009 Acadia. When increasing speed to get on highway the RPMS shoot up to 5 but car doesn't go!
Check engine light comes on so times when this happens, but mechanic has no idea
why it does that. No numbers for that problem comes up. Anybody know the answer?
Sorry previous explanation didn't show up. When I accelerate to get on highway, my RPMS go up to 5 but the car looses power and doesn't accelerate but seems to stall then catches and goes. Very scary!
Get another mechanic. If the check engine light comes on there's a trouble code stored in the computer. Have the computer scanned and post the trouble code(s) here. Most auto parts stores will scan your computer for free. HTH. -Jim
Code was P0008. I was informed that it was probably a stretched timing belt.
Check engine light came on again so off to a GMC dealership I go and hope it is covered under warranty.
Yes, that's what it sounds like to me. Smart move taking it to the dealer. That's exactly what I'd do. Thanks for letting us know. -Jim
