water leakage at front seats

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had enjoyed my 2003 Element until a month ago. I parked my car at Park & Fly lot for a week. When I picked up my car I found a lot of water on the floor of both front seats. It was raining almost the whole week. I thought the attendant mistakenly left the window open. I was wrong. Last week I was painting my garage and left the car outside overnight (heavy raining). The next morning I found water again. There must be a leakage but I couldn’t figure out from where. The windows and doors were tightly closed. But the floor looks like a small pond, even the coin box on the left side under the steering wheel was full of water. Who can tell me what could be the problem?

Yes, either windshield, around the doors, or through the sunroof -- drain tubes could be clogged and need to be blown out with compressed air. Suggest contact your local Rain Doctor rep, they do waterproofing on vehicles and are experts at determining cause and location of leaks like yours.

The 2003 models were part of a lawsuit about the windshields. Maybe yours did not get replaced. Here, hope this helps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Element#2003

I had that same thing happen.... turns out one of the pieces that go to the hood (under the side plastic panel) had come out of its place. So water was funneling in through the hole under the side panel. Luckily my insurance covered it being taken apart to find the issue and the water removal. Hope this helps!!!!
