Broken radiator--can I know if engine is good without first replacing radiator

Asked by Sep 19, 2019 at 10:06 AM about the 2003 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Honda Civic 2003. The radiator broke. The local mechanic says that the engine also might need replacement, but he can only tell after I install a new radiator, because only then can the engine get hot enough to check. Is there a way to check the engine without first investing in a new radiator?
